Two men have been arrested charging According to Connecticut State Police, they were hated for assault by a couple they met late April 5th.
Ryan Eustace and Riley Haddock, 28, allegedly assaulted an Indian man and his girlfriend while walking in the middle of the night on Centre Street in Southington, a town of 43,000 residents near the central state.
Police arrested the man at the scene and determined that they had attacked the man for his Indian heritage.
Police say the two men made mildly statements and racial slander towards the man before they attacked the couple.
Eustace is said to have punched the man in his face and Haddock joined in the attack and began an argument. After the man’s girlfriend tried to stop the attack, she was attacked before Eustace put the man in a headlock and limits his breathing ability.
The man suffered from a bloody nose and broken teeth and amputated his face, while the woman suffered injuries to his face and legs. Neither of them were taken to the hospital.
Police arrested the man at the scene and determined that they had attacked the man for his Indian heritage.
The two men were charged with prejudice/biased threats. Rid related to creed, religion, colour, nationality, or race ha ha. and assaulted. Eustace was further charged with strangulation.
Suthington resident Jamie Elsner told WFSB-TV that she witnessed the alleged attack as she was at a nearby restaurant at the time.
“Randomly, out of nowhere, attack someone because someone doesn’t look like you, or because they’re not your gender, or because you don’t think much of them.
“Whatever the motivation was, it wasn’t asked at all,” Ersner added.
Eustace was given a $250,000 bond, and Haddock was given a $150,000 bond. Both are linked from prison.
Police said Eustace was a convicted felon with four pending criminal cases, according to the WFSB.
