Over 30 prospects made their NFL dream come true on Thursday night. Over the next two days, hundreds of more names will hear their names as the 2025 NFL Draft continues.
Kelly Stafford, wife of Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford, knows what it’s like to support a footballer during the draft process. Matthew was the top pick in the 2009 draft.
In a recent edition of her “Morning After After” podcast, Kelly was asked about the night she was drafted by the Detroit Lions.
New York City hosted the draft that year, but Kelly said she wasn’t in the event. She then delved into whether key players others should be included in draft night.

She seemed against NFL prospects having girlfriends on their big day.

“If they’re drafted, you have your whole family and you’re in the draft, you’re in the draft, so you don’t know why you’re doing that because you’re in the draft. And then, all of a sudden, your girlfriend is gone, so you don’t have a draft photo without a random girl. Kelly said.

Stafford tied the knot in 2015 and shared it Four Daughters.
Later on the podcast, Kelly stated that when couples are not engaged, couples sometimes debate whether to include their sibling partner in their wedding party.
“It’s like being at your wedding when your brother’s girlfriend is not engaged. And suddenly, do you know what I mean? You have all these pictures with your family and brother’s girlfriend – not mine, but mine. [brother Chad Hall] I’m married [sister-in-law] Rose, so we were fine. Similarly, if Rose doesn’t marry Chad, what happens if she’s in all my wedding photos,” Kelly said.

Matthew spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions. The Rams acquired Stafford through a massive trade that sent Jared Goff to Detroit.

The “Morning After” podcast can be touched on football, but Stafford and co-host Henry Winchester address a wide range of other topics, including navigating friendship and parenting.
“I’m extremely vulnerable throughout this podcast,” Kelly explained. “I love it because I feel safe in this community.”
