Shedeur Sanders’ NFL Draft slides finally finished two days later.
The Browns traded up and won Sanders on the 144th overall pick on the fifth round Saturday.
The selection came after several months of chatting where prominent quarterback prospects begin their professional football careers, and several teams, including the same Browns, Giants, Steelers, Raiders and Saints, passed Sanders on day one.
The Browns once again chose not to take Sanders twice in the early part of the second round of the NFL Festival in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Cleveland previously chose Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel for his 94th pick, picking Sanders exactly 50 and later.
Sanders is finishing his 2024 season with Colorado and was named Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Year after throwing 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns.
He threw 64 touchdown passes over two seasons, a school-recorded.
Before arriving at Boulder, the quarterback played the first two years of his college football career in Jackson State.
Over his four years in college, Sanders threw 134 touchdown passes totaling for 14,347 yards.
