Democrat admits left picked wrong battle on Kilmar Abrego Garcia deportation

Rep. Henry Culler has criticized fellow Democrats for pushing back to his party about immigration stances and defending illegal immigration.

“This is not the right thing to talk about a legitimate process. This is not the right case. This is not the right person to say he needs to bring him back to the US,” said Cuellar of D-Texas.”Brian Killmead Show“On Fox News Radio.

Kuerer mentioned Kilmer Abrego Garcia, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant who was deported to an El Salvador prison in March. The Trump administration alleges that Abrego Garcia has partnered with the violent MS-13 gang and has released court documents on a protection order from his wife. Some Democrats claim he was denied a legitimate process and is demanding his return.

Jennifer Vasquez Sula, wife of Abrego Garcia, Recent Statements She had acted with caution by seeking protective orders.

“After surviving domestic violence in a previous relationship, I acted cautiously following my disagreement with Kilmer in search of a civil protection order in case things escalate,” she said in part. “Because things didn’t escalate, we decided not to track the civil court process. We were able to personally cooperate with the family situation, including going to counseling.”

Cuellar said making Abrego Garcia the face of immigration advocacy would undermine credibility with party voters.

“The Democrats should not have this issue,” Kuerer said. “When you see immigration, is this an immigration case you want to take to fight? In my opinion, absolutely no.”

Democrats are challenging the administration’s deportation policy, including sending suspects who send suspects back allegedly criminally illegal immigrants to Central America. Several lawmakers traveled to El Salvador to defend Abrego Garcia’s release, demanding proof of life for him.

Abrego Garcia illegally crossed the US border, but later attempted to gain protected legal status while living in Maryland.

His 2025 deportation was described in court as administrative errors. However, some Trump officials say his removal was justified by citing his alleged crime.

“People were saying, ‘Our parents came legally. They came in and became legal residents.’ But when you see people jumping in without knowing who they are,” he said. “It’s something wrong.”

Cuellar also expressed support for certain Trump-era border policies, particularly in regards to security and enforcement. He dismissed previous Democrats’ claims that borders are safe.

“It made me laugh when they said the border was secured,” he said. “Why would you put people in when you don’t know who these people are, then let them roam the streets of the United States while waiting four or five years for an immigration court hearing? That was wrong.

Cuerle said he would not judge the choices of fellow Democrats, but questioned the party’s broader strategy on immigration, noting that some of the Trump administration’s policies have had an impact.

“The president has made Mexico more engaged if they could defend them on a line that is less than 20 yards, rather than a one-yard line called the US border.
