President Trump has appointed Dr. Phil McGraw to the Religious Freedom Committee.
McGraw joined Trump on Thursday to commemorate the establishment of the committee in the White House Rose Garden Creating the Committee and promote a nation of prayer.
During the ceremony, after Trump introduced him, McGraw briefly spoke. He is an advocate for Trump’s campaign and supports his administration’s immigration policies.
“I can’t express enough how proud I am to witness the return of religion to the White House.
McGraw, a veteran TV host and author, is among those chosen to lead the committee. In his newly released book, he urges Americans to “revive the ideals of hard work, independence, faith, and creativity,” as stated by the White House.
Trump formed the Religious Freedom Committee through an executive order, which “actively implements historical and strong safeguards for religious freedom as stipulated by federal law.”
Trump pointed out that federal, state, and local policies have jeopardized the nation’s religious freedom traditions in recent times.
The committee remarked, “We will cultivate citizen pride in our fundamental heritage, identify emerging threats to religious freedom, support federal laws that ensure the full engagement of all citizens in a diverse democracy, and safeguard the free exercise of religion.”
Alongside McGraw, the committee features members appointed by Trump who act as “well-informed representatives from various sectors of society.” Other members include Texas Lt. Col. Dan Patrick (R), former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson, and New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan.
