Gary Cohen and Keith Hernandez didn't hide their feelings about the judges responsible for this week's Mets Diamondbacks series.
And both matinees arrived on Thursday Really I made sure to let their fragrant audience know how they felt.
Things came to mind at the top of the ninth in Arizona's 4-2 victory at Citifield.
The 1-2 count reliefer Ty Adcock's slider did not break through the top of the plate, but the ball obviously hit Suarez's bat and landed on catcher Lewis Torrence's glove.
Torrence and manager Carlos Mendoza pleaded to Judge John Bacon at the Home Plate.
Cohen is then torn by Bacon's ability to call the game behind the plate.
“John Bacon doesn't seem to know the difference between hitting a bat and hitting a gloves. It wasn't a foul tip in Strike 3. So what's going on?”
After Suarez jumped out to finish the innings, Hernandez summed up his feelings for the umpire in the past two series.
“Two series are in a row, Erstinko,” said the former Mets first bass man.
In particular, in his final series in Washington, Jesse Winker hit triple play in the opener after a line drive to first base was accidentally called a catch, as multiple replays of the television broadcast likely hit the ground, keeping the play and eliminating triple play.
The turn signal was at the heart of another controversial call during Wednesday's game. There, he appeared to foul the ball from his feet in the nine innings with a base loaded and a base.
Instead, it dominated the fair ball and ultimately ended up being RBI groundout.
Two batters, the Mets, lost 4-3.
All three plays were not available to review.
The Mets then head to St. Louis for a series with the Cardinals after losing two of the three against Arizona.
