Sharkninja is recalling nearly 2 million of its pressure cookers after receiving reports of serious burns from customers due to hot food leaking out.
The issue lies with the Sharkninja Foodi OP300 Series multifunctional pressure cooker lid, which can be opened during operation, resulting in hot food escaping and potentially injuring users. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall notice on Thursday.
So far, over 50 customers have reported suffering from second or third-degree burns on their faces or bodies due to the defective pressure cookers. There are currently 26 lawsuits against Sharkninja related to these injuries.
The company emphasized that “hand safety is a top priority” in a recent statement.
The affected pressure cooker, sold for about $200, was available from January to March 2025 at various retailers including Walmart and Amazon.
The model numbers involved in the recall include OP300, OP301, OP301A, OP302, and several others. In total, the recall affects around 1.8 million units sold in the U.S. and about 180,000 in Canada.
The CPSC advises customers to stop using the pressure cooker function and to contact Sharkninja instead of returning the product to the store.
Consumers are encouraged to use other features of the appliance, like the Air Fry function, while this issue is being addressed.
Interestingly enough, Sharkninja’s stock actually saw a 3.5% increase by 9:50 AM ET on Friday, recovering somewhat after a 1.3% drop the previous day.
