Braun Strowman and Shayna Baszler among WWE layoffs before SmackDown surprise

On Friday, WWE announced a wave of roster cuts, leading to the departure of several well-known figures from their lineup. This move included both main roster and NXT talents, making it one of the most significant release rounds so far this year. However, it’s not uncommon for such cuts to happen soon after WrestleMania, which wrapped up just a couple of weeks ago.

Notably, Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, and Dakota Kai were among those let go from the main roster. Other releases included several names from the women’s division, such as Kaden Carter, Katana Chance, Cora Jade, and men like Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, and Wolfgang.

Strowman, who gained fame during his second stint with WWE over the past three years, was a significant figure, having held titles like the Universal and Intercontinental Championship. Meanwhile, Baszler, a former NXT women’s champion and two-time women’s tag team champion, had been active in the Raw and Smackdown shows. Though she historically shone as a major star in NXT, she struggled to reach that level on the main roster.

Baszler expressed her feelings about the situation, alluding to her unique contributions with a post suggesting, “No one can offer what I have to offer.”

Cora Jade, one of the youngest wrestlers among the cuts at just 24, also made headlines. After her release, she hinted at being available for bookings.

Generally, those released from the main roster face a 90-day non-compete clause, while NXT talent typically have a 30-day period outlined in their contracts.
