The 151st Kentucky Derby has concluded, with sovereignty taking the top spot.
Journalism finished in second while Baeza claimed third.
No. 8 Journalism was the morning favorite at 3-1, followed closely by No. 18 sovereignty at 5-1 and No. 17 Sandman at 6-1.
In recent years, the Kentucky Derby has seen its fair share of surprises, with the last six winners averaging odds of 33-1.
Interestingly, two of these champions—Country House and Rich Strike—started with odds exceeding 65-1.
Rich Strike, who won in 2022, is noted as the second-biggest long shot in Derby history, with odds of 80-1.
Only Donaily, the 1913 winner, surpassed that with odds of 91-1.
Last year’s winner, Mystik Dan, clinched victory in a dramatic photo finish.
