Aaron Rodgers was seen at the Kentucky Derby on Saturday night, awaiting a decision regarding his future in the NFL—whether he’ll sign with a team for the 2025 season or choose to retire. NBC captured footage of Rodgers in the stands at Churchill Downs. The Louisville Courier Journal also noted his presence at the Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala, where he mingled with former Green Bay Packers teammates such as Davante Adams, Randall Cobb, Jimmy Graham, Aj Hawk, Corey Linsley, and David Bakhtiari.
On the “Up & Adams” show, NBC’s Mike Tirico was asked about the possibility of a final meeting with Rodgers. He expressed his desire not to see it happen, suggesting that Rodgers’s comments about his personal life indicate a strong commitment to football, which might suggest that retirement is on the horizon. Personally, Tirico expressed a wish to see Rodgers play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, citing the team’s reputation for competitiveness under coach Mike Tomlin.
He mentioned that, unlike former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Rodgers has the ability to execute unscripted plays without needing anyone else’s assistance.
Interestingly, Warren Moon, the NFL legend, shared advice regarding strategy, suggesting that winning by simply securing field goal positions is valid for the Steelers. The outlook indicates that Rodgers’s future may indeed be with Pittsburgh, especially since the Minnesota Vikings appear set to go with JJ McCarthy for the upcoming season, following the Jets’ decision to part ways with Rodgers.
Steelers owner Art Rooney II and head coach Mike Tomlin have also expressed interest in acquiring a quarterback with Rodgers’s experience, particularly after his stint with the Jets didn’t go as planned.
Tomlin recently commented on the NFL Network about the importance of timing and his conversations with potential free agents, including Rodgers, noting that they are constructive and enjoyable.
