Hegseth and Miller honor the Kentucky Derby winner: ‘Sovereignty will always prevail’

Officials from the White House took to social media to celebrate a recent win at the Kentucky Derby, where a horse named Sovereignty triumphed over Journalism, which was a favored competitor. During the race, Sovereignty maintained a steady position and only kicked into gear nearing the final stretch, ultimately outpacing Journalism.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, part of the Trump administration, highlighted the race’s outcome on social media, stating, “Sovereignty over Journalism, on the track and in America in 2025.”

Stephen Miller, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff, echoed similar sentiments in his posts, suggesting that in the Trump administration, sovereignty will always come out on top.

Commenting on the race, journalist Logan Hall described the victory as a strong indicator of future trends. The Trump administration, notably at odds with media portrayals, has faced criticism, especially aimed at Hegseth. This scrutiny followed reports concerning a military airstrike in Yemen shared in a private chat that included family and lawyers, which Hegseth claimed was a distraction from Trump’s goals.

Hegseth dismissed the reports, attributing them to disgruntled former employees, and insisted that media should focus on more pressing national issues instead.

In turn, Miller pressed his point during a White House briefing, taking reporters to task for their coverage of gang-related violence, claiming they were misrepresenting a deported MS-13 member’s story.

Miller also criticized the media’s delayed coverage of tragic events, like the assault and murder of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungarai, suggesting that only after Trump brought it to light did they respond. He argued that coverage was compelled by the President’s insistence on addressing the issue publicly.
