NWSL relocating its headquarters to 551 Fifth Ave.

Midtown, just north of 42nd Street, is set to welcome yet another sports office, as the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) has signed a lease for a space in the historical Fred D. French Building at 551 Fifth Avenue.

Previously located at 292 Madison Avenue, the league is now expanding into a much larger, 21,000-square-foot floor—twice the size of its old space. The lease, it seems, came in at $58 per square foot.

Feil Commercial Leasing Head Andrew Wiener expressed excitement about the move, calling it “a new chapter in the heritage of this iconic Art Deco style tower.” Lauren Lopez, the Chief People and Cultural Officer for the NWSL, added that the new headquarters signifies the league’s remarkable growth.

The building is reportedly almost fully leased, at nearly 90% occupancy.

Since relocating from Chicago to New York in 2022, the 16-team NWSL has made strides in establishing a stronger presence in the city.

In terms of representation during the lease negotiations, CBRE’s Connor Dennihan and Patrick Moloney worked with the NWSL, while Feil had their team comprising Wiener, Kevin Driscoll, and Henry Korzec.

On a separate note, the FEIL organization is also active at 140 W. 57th Street, where there are plans to convert another office landmark into residential spaces in partnership with Bldg Management Co. and the Nakash family. They’re looking at creating a 47-unit luxury apartment complex behind the building’s neo-Gothic facade, with construction expected to start this spring and wrap up by the end of 2026.
