Cowboys players have no input in unexpected changes in the locker room.

Changes are underway in Dallas, and players aren’t involved in at least one aspect of it.

As the Cowboys began their offseason activities, a significant alteration was noticeable in the locker room. First-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer opted to shake things up, positioning linebacker Micah Parsons alongside quarterback Dak Prescott as team leaders.

Interestingly, Schottenheimer stated that the players didn’t have any input in this locker room rearrangement; it was strictly his decision along with his coaching staff.

“We moved some people,” Schottenheimer explained. “This year, I coordinated with the staff on this adjustment. Normally, the players wouldn’t do this, but there’s definitely a method to my madness. When they first arrived in the team room, I’d pick up and rearrange their seats. I decided to switch things up a bit.”

Looking back, before Schottenheimer and Mike McCarthy, who were let go after last season’s 7-10 performance, there was Jimmy Johnson. He stepped in as head coach in 1989 and made his mark by changing up the locker room dynamics set by the legendary Tom Landry.

Johnson grouped position players close together in the locker room, fostering camaraderie.

Jason Garrett and McCarthy seemed to uphold Johnson’s approach over the years, but this year marks a departure from that tradition.

Schottenheimer had previously spent three years as an assistant coach with the Cowboys before taking on the head coaching role.
