Weekly Chart: ’10x Money Multiplier’ for Bitcoin May Surprise Wall Street – CoinDesk

Impact of Bitcoin Buying Strategies on Future Prices

Michael Saylor’s approach to purchasing Bitcoin for company balance sheets has, it seems, become a trend among various publicly traded firms, leading to a notable improvement in stock values and overall shareholder confidence.

This raises an important question: what does this mean for the future of Bitcoin prices? A recent study by Nydig analyzes this topic, revealing some impressive findings.

Using a tenfold “money multiplier”—a method that historically correlates new investments with Bitcoin’s market capitalization—the estimates suggest a significant potential impact on Bitcoin prices. By dividing this projected market capitalization increase by the total Bitcoin supply, we get a clearer picture.

To derive these insights, Nydig analysts scrutinized the equity ratings of companies like Strategy (MSTR), Metaplanet (3350), Twenty One (CEP), and Semler Scientific (SMLR). This review enables a theoretical understanding of how much capital these companies could gather by issuing shares at current stock prices to invest in additional Bitcoin.

If this hypothesis holds true, Bitcoin prices could surge nearly 44% from the current level, which stands at $96,000. This would certainly be appealing for Wall Street capital managers, especially in today’s market filled with such volatility and uncertainty.

Nydig Research noted, “The implications are clear—the ‘dry powder’ available through these issuance capabilities can significantly influence Bitcoin’s price.”

The finite supply of Bitcoin further supports this analysis. Publicly traded companies already own about 3.63% of all Bitcoin, a number that rises to 7.48% when including private firms and government holdings, according to data from Bitcoin Tray.

A potential increase in demand could occur if the U.S. government devises a “budget-neutral strategy for acquiring more Bitcoin.”
