Holly Madison Discusses Her Experience at the Playboy Mansion
Holly Madison recently shared some revealing insights about her time at the Playboy Mansion during a podcast appearance. Now 45, she reflected on her past relationship with Hugh Hefner, noting a particular bedroom experience that was not to her liking.
When asked if Hefner was a good partner, she had a candid response. “Well, that’s a very different story when we were there with everyone else around,” Madison explained. “In those situations, I really didn’t like it. I hated it. I was quite aware of my discomfort.”
She contrasted that with more private moments, saying, “But just him and me? That felt a lot more normal than you might imagine.” Madison chuckled at the disconnect between perceptions and reality, acknowledging that “no one would really think that’s normal.” Although she laughed, it seemed there was a mix of nostalgia and perhaps a hint of regret in her tone.
Madison, who was one of Hefner’s long-term girlfriends, left the Playboy Mansion in 2008. She mentioned that, prior to exiting his lifestyle, she discovered a folder containing details of his will, which had included her. “It’s kind of sad,” she admitted. “At one point, he left me $3 million. It felt almost like modest bribery after we had already broken up. It was as if he was trying to keep me around without talking about it.” Eventually, she did make that money for herself after their split.
Looking back over her time at the mansion, Madison reflected on how she entered at 21 and left at 29, after filming the reality show “The Girls Next Door.” In 2016, she published a memoir titled “Down the Rabbit Hole,” where she detailed experiences of verbal and emotional abuse during her time in the spotlight.
When discussing her journey, Madison expressed a desire to share her experiences with aspiring models, urging them to heed the cautionary tales of others in the industry. “When I was 18, I thought I could handle everything—no emotional strings attached. But honestly, it’s not that simple. There’s so much emotional weight involved.” She believes it’s important to hear real stories from people who’ve been through it.
Madison is now focusing on her career, with the third season of her investigative series, “Playboy’s Murder,” set to premiere soon, exploring notorious tragedies and crimes related to the famous magazine.
