Authorities are currently on the lookout for inmates who escaped from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport early Sunday morning, particularly keeping an eye on nearby train routes.
Officials reported that Seattle Port police were notified of the escape around 11 a.m.
A contracted agent was in the process of transporting the individual, later identified as 28-year-old Cedric T. Stevenson, when he managed to slip away at the ticket counter.
Stevenson was wanted on a warrant from Bowling Green, Kentucky, and fled in the direction of the light rail station.
The agent pursued him but was unable to catch up.
Video surveillance confirmed that Stevenson boarded a light rail train heading north.
Meanwhile, Sound Transit Security later spotted Stevenson exiting at Capitol Hill Station.
Authorities indicate that he is now being pursued for second-degree escape.
In their efforts, police have searched the airport’s platforms, luggage areas, and other locations to secure the premises.
Fortunately, the incident has not affected airport travel operations.
