Police summoned to Kevin Garnett’s home during altercation with girlfriend

NBA great Kevin Garnett recently contacted authorities due to a domestic issue involving his girlfriend, Tear Candelia.

Reports indicate he called the police around 2 a.m. on April 27 to report an argument at their home in the Los Angeles area.

In a joint statement shared with the media, the couple expressed regret that their personal dispute escalated to the point of involving law enforcement. They stated, “It was never our intention to involve others in moments that should have been private.”

They added, “Like most couples, we have disagreements, but our commitment to each other remains strong, and we move forward with respect, understanding, and love.”

The confrontation was reportedly not physical; however, there was an incident where Garnett kicked his belongings out of the doorway when he left. By the time police arrived, he had already left the residence.

Candelia declined medical assistance when offered.

Garnett, who is highly regarded as one of the NBA’s all-time greats, began his professional career straight out of high school in 1995 with the Minnesota Timberwolves at just 19. He played for 21 seasons, retiring in 2016.

Garnett spent his first 12 seasons with the Timberwolves and then six seasons with the Boston Celtics, winning his only NBA championship in 2008. After a trade to the Brooklyn Nets where he played half a season, he ended his career back in Minnesota.

Since hanging up his jersey, Garnett has pursued various media opportunities, including a podcast and acting. He appeared in the 2019 film “Uncut Gems” and hosts a podcast titled “KG Certified” alongside former teammate Paul Pierce.

A member of multiple Hall of Fames, Garnett has been selected as an All-Star 15 times, chosen for the All-NBA team nine times, and earned 12 All-Defensive selections. He was also named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
