Some Democratic senators have concerns about Harris running again in 2028, according to a report.

Recent reports indicate that some Democratic senators are pulling back their support for former Vice President Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate for 2028. One anonymous senator expressed doubt, stating, “No,” when asked if she should run again, citing her loss to President Donald Trump in 2024 as a reason.

Harris is currently evaluating her political future, including her opposition to the president’s policies. Senator John Hickenlooper from Colorado remarked that Harris may not be seen as a leading contender for Democratic nominations, though he acknowledged that she brings a valuable perspective to political discussions.

Speaking about future political maneuvers, Harris hinted that the upcoming months could clarify her path. “What happens in the next six to eighteen months will involve many Democrats with diverse opinions on our priorities,” she noted, a statement that leaves some ambiguity about what those priorities might be.

Some senators remain optimistic about Harris’s prospects. Senator Martin Heinrich of New Mexico shared that he’s open to her running again, highlighting the changes in the political landscape since last time. “I’m a big fan of Kamala Harris. Given our timeframe, there are many potential advantages to an open process,” he stated.

Meanwhile, other Democratic figures, like Senator Richard Blumenthal, recognize Harris’s potential but question whether she’s the strongest candidate. “She’s a compelling candidate with various reasons behind her previous loss that weren’t entirely within her control,” Blumenthal mentioned, adding that the debate over her viability will be significant.

Democratic governors, including JB Pritzker of Illinois and Gavin Newsom of California, are also being considered as potential candidates for the 2028 election.
