Browns linebacker Devin Bush taken into custody and charged following incident with girlfriend

Cleveland Browns linebacker Devin Bush has been charged with simple assault and harassment after an incident in which he allegedly chased a woman in Pittsburgh and damaged her phone.

The woman, who identified herself as Bush’s girlfriend, told authorities that he had attacked her, taking her car keys and breaking her phone in the process. She claimed that Bush, 26, broke the phone and did not seek help afterward.

According to police reports, a discussion had turned tense after the woman raised an issue in the kitchen with a friend of Bush’s. The woman began recording the altercation on her phone as Bush became “more aggressive.” She stated that he chased and pinned her down, using his full weight to wrestle the phone from her.

It was reported that Bush not only broke her phone but also searched for her iPad. Both the woman and her daughter ran to a neighbor’s house. The police affidavit noted significant injuries on the woman’s right wrist and leg, which she attributed to Bush’s attempts to seize her phone.

When approached by police, Bush allegedly admitted to breaking the woman’s phone. He was picked 10th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he spent his first four seasons, making 286 tackles in 52 games. Now, in 2023, he has played 13 games for the Seattle Seahawks, starting three and recording 37 tackles.

Bush joined the Browns this past season, starting 10 of the 16 games and finishing with 76 tackles, one sack, and three passes defended.
