MSNBC withdraws shocking claim regarding FBI Director Kash Patel during broadcast

On Monday’s “Morning Joe,” MSNBC discussed some eyebrow-raising claims about FBI Director Kash Patel. Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi suggested that Patel spends more time at nightclubs than in his office at the Hoover building. Figliuzzi stated, “He reportedly appears in far more nightclubs than he was on the seventh floor of the Hoover building.” He further noted that Patel’s daily briefings have been reduced to twice weekly.

Interestingly, New York City Mayor Eric Adams acknowledged the existence of “deep states” while promoting Patel’s latest book, hinting at various underlying issues within such discussions.

Figliuzzi, now a national security analyst for MSNBC, remarked that his sources within the FBI describe the agency as being in a chaotic state, with many employees feeling uncertain about the daily situation.

During the same segment, co-host Jonathan Lemire mentioned that Figliuzzi’s nightclub comments might have been overstated, adding, “We have not confirmed the claim.” This retrospective correction highlighted the need for clarity in such discussions.

In recent weeks, Patel’s role in various operations has been scrutinized, especially following the transition of leadership at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), where he was recently replaced. A source mentioned that moving him away from ATF responsibilities would allow him to concentrate more effectively on his role with the FBI.

MSNBC has yet to respond to a request for comment regarding these assertions, and FBI spokesman Ben Williamson declined to provide further information.
