Rookie Player Experiences Severe Injury After Colliding With Outfield Wall

Cincinnati Reds rookie Tyler Karihan may have seen his debut season come to a premature end after suffering a broken arm due to a collision with the outfield wall.

This incident took place during the third inning of a game against the Braves on Monday night at Trust Park in Atlanta. Karihan attempted to make a diving catch on a deep fly ball hit by Matt Olson but ended up colliding awkwardly with the wall, causing the ball to slip out of his grasp.

The video of the accident is tough to watch.

The Reds’ medical team quickly assessed the seriousness of the injury and rushed to assist the 24-year-old.

It was determined that Karihan had a broken arm, and the team’s social media account expressed their wishes for his recovery.

In an ideal scenario, play would have been halted after such a distressing injury, but that’s not typically how baseball goes. Olson continued running the bases, ultimately scoring what counts as a Park Home Run.

The Braves ended up winning the game 4-0.

While there is no official timeline for Karihan’s recovery, it is expected that he will be sidelined for several months.
