Raiders rookie Cam Miller receives endorsement from Tom Brady during NFL Draft

Cam Miller Joins Raiders After Impressive College Career

The former Boise State standout, now making headlines with the Las Vegas Raiders, has caught the attention of Tom Brady. Cam Miller, who led North Dakota to two FCS national titles, was picked 215th overall in last month’s draft.

Brady, having a minority stake in the Raiders, has been in close contact with the team’s general manager, John Spytek, whose relationship with Brady dates back to their time at the University of Michigan. Spytek had previously worked with Brady in Tampa Bay.

During a recent interview concerning the general manager role, Brady reportedly had discussions with Raiders owner Mark Davis and other stakeholders. Given the trust between Brady and Spytek, it’s not surprising that Brady was advocating for Miller during the draft.

Spytek noted that Brady was impressed with Miller’s skills, particularly his throwing technique and movement. According to Spytek, Brady believes Miller has a lot of room for improvement moving forward.

Miller finished his college tenure with a solid 45-11 record, stepping into a quarterback room that includes Geno Smith and Aidan O’Connell. The Raiders recently made a significant move in the draft, trading their third pick to acquire Smith from the Seahawks. Smith, who has been a Pro Bowl starter in the past, is also a strong candidate to start this upcoming season.

Last year, Smith threw for 4,320 yards, recording 21 touchdowns against 15 interceptions. Despite Miller’s arrival, Smith remains a front-runner for the starting position when the season kicks off.

The Raiders struggled last season, finishing with a 4-13 record, leading to changes in management. Newly hired head coach Pete Carroll, who coached Smith during his time in Seattle, will be attempting to turn the team’s fortunes around.

In addition to bolstering their roster, the Raiders have focused on securing key defensive players. Max Crosby signed a record three-year extension worth $106.5 million, making it the richest non-quarterback contract in league history, which locks him in until 2029.
