Utah Hockey Club is no more.
After a comprehensive year-long search, the NHL team in Utah announced it will be rebranded as the Utah Mammoth starting in the 2025-26 season.
“Over 10,000 years ago, a herd of mammoths made Utah their home, and ever since, they’ve symbolized Earth’s presence. This connection reflects the energy of Utah hockey fans, who are breathing life into the NHL through their passion. The name ‘Mammoth’ signifies the franchise’s bold new era,” said a statement from the team, following fan votes that totaled more than 850,000.
The team shared a video on social media to mark the occasion:
“We’re thrilled to reveal the official name and branding of Utah’s NHL team. The team name came from a community vote, which included feedback on potential logos,” shared Ashley Smith, the owner of the Utah Mammoth.
“Since the beginning, we’ve been committed to making this team a reflection of the Utah community, and we eagerly celebrate today’s announcement throughout the state. The community has spoken, and they chose the Utah Mammoth.”
How do you feel about the new team colors and logo?
I wouldn’t say it’s the worst design I’ve ever seen, but the new Utah Mammoth logo definitely gives off a “default logo” vibe for ESPN fantasy hockey.

The main logo features the “Mountain Mammoth,” which includes a tribute to Utah. According to the team, the logo “captures the essence of the mammoth mid-charge, ready to attack, while nodding to the Wasatch Mountains and the snowy peaks that adorn the beast’s crown.”
The team has also introduced a secondary logo and a badge.
The presentation might have an interesting touch for typography enthusiasts—it includes a custom-designed font called Mammoth Sands, featuring a 10-degree forward slope that represents the mountains and signifies the team’s relentless drive for progress.
In addition, home game mascots will be introduced in the upcoming season.
