Operation by Justice Department and FBI Results in Arrest of More Than 200 Suspected Child Sex Offenders in Only Five Days

Washington – Federal law enforcement has apprehended over 200 individuals involved in child sex crimes within a span of five days, according to a press conference held by Attorney General Pam Bondy and FBI Director Kash Patel.

This initiative, a partnership between the Department of Justice (DOJ) and 55 FBI Field Offices, has led to the arrest of 205 people linked to a total of 115 child victims.

“Those engaged in these heinous acts will face significant prison sentences if convicted,” Bondy stated. “If you’re online trying to exploit children, we will track you down. The FBI and DOJ are committed to holding you accountable.”

Notably, among those taken into custody are teachers and law enforcement personnel who are typically expected to protect children, Patel mentioned.

He cited a few cases: two former Army Reserve members with state police roles accused of creating child sexual abuse content while in uniform, and illegal immigrants apprehended in Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, a former Washington, D.C. official was arrested for allegedly trafficking a minor across state lines.

“It’s critical to keep an eye on what our kids are doing, whether they’re gaming online, using social media, or browsing sites popular with young people,” Bondy added. “I often say that what starts as instant messaging can quickly turn into an instant nightmare. Parents, it’s vital to realize that when your child thinks they’re chatting with peers, they might actually be interacting with predators. These individuals sometimes share explicit images and even resort to blackmail.”
