19th Hole Snack Mix recalled due to hidden allergens

Snack foods available in the northeast are being recalled due to two allergens that haven’t been declared. New England Village Foods is pulling back all 5-ounce and 10-ounce containers of the 19th Whole Snack Mix because the product potentially contains undeclared almonds and sesame seeds.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced this recall on Tuesday, noting that these snack mix containers were distributed to independent grocery stores and convenience shops across New England, New York, and Pennsylvania.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses. However, the FDA cautioned that those with allergies to almonds or sesame could face serious or even life-threatening reactions if they consume the affected products.

The recall was initiated after a customer discovered that a product containing almonds was being sold without the proper allergen labeling. The FDA also found that the listing does not mention sesame, despite it being part of the ingredient list.

Further investigation by the FDA indicated that a temporary issue in the company’s packaging process was the root cause of this oversight. Production of the affected snack mixes has now been halted.

Consumers who have purchased this snack mix are urged to return it to the store for a full refund. New England Village Foods is based in Milford, New Hampshire.
