3 Doors Down band member receives cancer diagnosis

Brad Arnold, the lead singer of Three Doors Down, announced on Wednesday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He shared this news with fans, explaining that the band would have to cancel their upcoming tour as they confront the illness.

In a heartfelt video on Instagram, the 46-year-old from Mississippi mentioned that he sought medical attention after feeling unwell a few weeks ago. It was during this visit that doctors diagnosed him with clear cell renal cell carcinoma, which has spread to his lungs.

Arnold expressed, “I have no fear, I’m not really scared of it.” He indicated that while the news is heavy, he remains hopeful. He apologized for the tour cancellation and requested that fans keep him in their prayers during this challenging time.

Referencing the band’s song “It’s Not My Time,” he indicated he would be listening to it for inspiration. “Thank you, everyone,” he concluded, reminding fans of the love shared between them.

He also reflected on the life experiences he’s had, noting, “Thank you for all the memories I’ve had.” Arnold, who wrote one of the band’s most famous hits, “Kryptonite,” back in high school, remains the only founding member. Three Doors Down, formed in the mid-1990s, includes members Chet Roberts, Justin Billton, Chris Henderson, and Greg Upchurch.

It’s worth mentioning that clear cell renal cell carcinoma is the most common form of kidney cancer and affects men more than women. Though the exact causes are often unclear, factors like smoking, obesity, high blood pressure, and existing kidney issues can contribute to its development.
