Jannik Sinner is back on the tennis court after serving a three-month suspension due to a positive drug test. Interestingly, he’s also officially single now.
The top-ranked men’s tennis player shared details about his personal life just ahead of the Italian Open scheduled for this week, following some media buzz around a photo of him with Russian model Lala Leit from last month.
This revelation seems to confirm Sinner’s split from fellow tennis player Anna Kalinskaya.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Sinner expressed his happiness about returning to the sport after a lengthy break, saying, “It’s been three months, and it felt like a long time.” He mentioned enjoying quality time with family and friends, especially his first practice back on the court.
Sinner went on to clarify his relationship status, stating he was “single.” He remarked, “I was surprised by all the attention and didn’t expect to see those photos, so everything is good on my side.”
Although linked romantically to Kalinskaya last year, Sinner confirmed to the New York Post that they parted ways, especially after sharing a kiss following their victory at the US Open in September.
The recent photos and comments from the paparazzi have further substantiated his single status.
Returning to the court was a relief for Sinner after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) suspended him due to a positive test for anabolic steroids. “Initially, it was tough to accept the situation,” he shared, “but sometimes we must make difficult choices, and thankfully, it’s behind me now.”
The 23-year-old tested positive for low levels of a banned anabolic steroid, Clostebol, in March 2024. Sinner explained that the positive test stemmed from a massage where a trainer used an over-the-counter spray for minor cuts. WADA found his case to be a non-intentional offense, but still deemed a three-month suspension appropriate, reminding that athletes must be responsible for their team’s actions.
