Trump Nominates Casey Means as New Surgeon General

President Donald Trump has formally nominated Casey Means, a health influencer associated with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to be the new Surgeon General of the United States. This decision comes after the withdrawal of Dr. Janette Neshwatt’s nomination.

Neshwatt’s nomination faced scrutiny when it was revealed that she had graduated from a Caribbean medical school, not from the University of Arkansas, as previously stated. She has appeared as a medical contributor on Fox News.

Trump announced Means’ nomination in a post on Truth Social, expressing his belief that she would be an excellent choice for the role. He noted her qualifications and emphasized the need to combat the growing epidemic of chronic disease in the U.S.

“We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Casey will be our next Surgeon General,” he stated, praising her academic background and prior work. Trump suggested that Means could possibly become one of the most notable surgeons general in the country’s history.

Means, a Stanford graduate, is known for her criticisms of ultra-processed foods and chemicals prevalent in the American diet. She has discussed on popular platforms, like Joe Rogan’s podcast, how certain chemicals could be linked to early adolescence.

She remarked, “We live in a highly estrogenic environment due to human activity,” referring to chemicals like atrazine that significantly affect hormonal balance. According to her, the United States imports large quantities of these harmful substances from other nations.

Following Trump’s remarks, it was also mentioned that Kennedy would collaborate with Neshwatt on initiatives within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Neshwatt has faced backlash for previously describing the Covid vaccine in positive terms, labeling it a “gift.” This has raised questions about her stance and qualifications for the role she was set to assume.
