The Actual Eating Habits of Bryan Johnson, the Longevity Advocate Who Encourages Frequent Sex

If your usual bedtime is around 10 pm and you end up going to sleep at 2 am, you’ll likely miss out on a good chunk of deep sleep that typically occurs in the earlier hours. Deep sleep is crucial; it acts like the body’s garbage collector, clearing out waste. So, while some may think that sleeping from 2 to 11 makes up for lost sleep, that simply isn’t the case. The patterns are different, which is why sticking to a consistent schedule is so vital.

I want to discuss my usual mix of three drinks and a cigarette.

Honestly, those habits probably contribute to feeling less happy or vibrant, dulling your senses in a way.

Have you ever been a drinker?

Not really. I’ve tried it here and there, but nothing serious.

No cigarettes either, I assume?

Nope.

I did try a puff once and thought it was quite strange.

Any idea what flavor it was?

I can’t recall. It’s definitely an acquired taste, not something you immediately enjoy.

What about caffeine? Are you a fan?

I do have a bit of matcha.

I noticed you have a tattoo. I read something about how tattoos could raise skin cancer risk. But it seems like you have one on your wrist?

Yes, I got it long before I started this journey. Larger tattoos can heighten the risk of skin cancer and lymphoma quite significantly, particularly if they exceed the size of your palm. Overall, tattoos can increase the risk by about a third. But that finding came from a relatively small study with only a handful of instances noted, so it’s more suggestive than definitive.

Plus, using bad inks can up that cancer risk. There are safer inks out there, so if you plan to get a tattoo, keep it small and opt for one of those.

Take a guess at my age just by looking at me.

37.

Ouch!

How about 24?

Actually, I’m 29.

You look fantastic. It’s hard to judge with the poor resolution and lighting.

If you have a moment, I’d like to ask why you seem to fear dying.

I’m not afraid of death! Honestly, it’ll be like before I was born—just not knowing. So, there’s no fear there. I have a strong love for life.
