Janine Pirro Appointed Interim US Attorney in DC

President Donald Trump announced that Judge Janine Pirro will serve as the interim US attorney for Washington, D.C. He shared this news on Truth Social, expressing his confidence in her qualifications for the role. “Janine is very suited to this position and is considered one of the district’s top lawyers in New York State history,” he said. His post included a congratulatory note to her.

Pirro is stepping away from her role at Fox News Channel. In her absence, the network will rotate personalities on the show “The Five” until a permanent co-host is chosen. Over her three-year stint on the show, Pirro has been described as a cherished host and a significant contributor to its success.

Trump indicated that he would soon unveil his pick for the permanent US attorney position in DC.

Judge Pirro has made history, being the first woman to serve as both the assistant district attorney and a judge in Westchester County, New York. Since joining Fox News in 2006 and hosting “Justice with Judge Jeanine” for 11 years, she has become a recognizable figure in media.

Trump further announced that Ed Martin, a former interim US attorney for DC, will transition to a role at the Justice Department to oversee the newly formed “Weaponization Working Group.” In this capacity, he will investigate allegations of government misuse under the current administration. Trump congratulated Martin, emphasizing the importance of this role for victims seeking justice.

During a previous media interaction, Trump commented on Martin’s previous work, acknowledging significant crime reductions in D.C. While expressing some disappointment over the lack of support Martin received, he noted that a decision had to be made.

As political decisions unfold, the future of the roles and responsibilities of these individuals remains a topic of much discussion.
