Alice In Chains Suddenly Cancels Concert Due to Drummer’s Suspected Medical Issue

Alice in Chains announced via Instagram that their drummer, Sean Kinney, had to abruptly stop Thursday’s concert due to a “medical emergency.”

The renowned band was meant to perform at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uxville, Connecticut, and it appeared they were all set to go before things took a serious turn.

They shared, “After a sound check at Mohegan Sun Arena tonight, Sean experienced a life-threatening medical emergency. Unfortunately, we need to cancel tonight’s show.”

“We apologize for the inconvenience,” the band added. “Refunds are available at the time of purchase.”

Fans quickly took to the comments, offering messages of support and well-wishes for Kinney.

Details about Kinney’s current health or what led to this sudden incident have not been revealed.

The drummer’s status was not discussed at scheduled press time, but it has been noted that this was the band’s first full concert since performing at the Chic New World Festival in Las Vegas back in April 2024.

Looking ahead, Alice in Chains is set to perform on May 10th at MMR*b*Q at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion and at the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival in Camden, New Jersey, on May 11th, followed by a performance at the final Black Sabbath Show in Birmingham, England, on July 5th.

As of Friday morning, it remains uncertain whether Kinney’s situation will impact these upcoming shows or if he is expected to return in time.
