Miley Cyrus is stepping forward to address the recent rumors surrounding her family.
After some misleading reports suggested that Tish Cyrus had distanced herself from Miley, the 32-year-old singer took to Instagram to clarify their relationship.
“I don’t usually comment on rumors, but my mom and I are too close for misunderstandings,” Miley stated in her Instagram story. “She’s my best friend, and like many moms, she sometimes struggles with technology and accidentally exposed me.”
On the topic of her relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley acknowledged that they’ve faced challenges over the years.
“As I enter my 30s, family is what matters most to me,” she added. “It’s comforting to know we’ve built bridges and that time has helped heal many things. I’m thankful for the love and health we share.”
Tish, 57, also addressed the situation on X, mentioning, “I don’t know how it happened, but it’s all fixed!”
She also humorously noted, “I would never intentionally expose Miley.”
Just a day prior, Billy Ray, who is 63, shared a post featuring himself with his two daughters, Braison and Brandi, on their Tennessee farm.
In his Instagram post, he wished Braison a happy birthday.
Tish and Billy Ray were married from 1993 until 2022, having three kids together: Miley, Braison, and Noah. Additionally, Billy Ray has two kids from a previous marriage, and a son, Christopher, from a past relationship.
Since their separation, Tish has married Dominique Purcell in 2023, while Billy Ray briefly wed Firerose from 2023 to 2024 and is currently dating Elizabeth Hurley.
Speculation about a rift between Billy Ray and some of his children arose when Miley notably omitted him from her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
Earlier in 2024, Miley appeared on David Letterman’s Netflix show, where she discussed her complex relationship with her father.
She mentioned that, while her father provided her with guidance, she also felt she “inherited narcissism” from him.
Miley reflected, “Without my father, I wouldn’t be here. However, who I am feels separate from him.” She expressed admiration for her mother, calling her her hero.
In January, Miley’s brother, Trace, hinted at some disconnect between their father and the siblings, criticizing him for his controversial performance at an event involving Donald Trump.
Trace expressed concern over their father’s changes, saying he barely recognizes him anymore.
In contrast, 25-year-old Noah praised their dad for new music he released, expressing pride in his achievements in a recent post.
