During the live broadcast on HBO on Friday, Donna Brazile, a commentator for ABC News and former chair of the Democratic National Committee, attributed Kamala Harris’ disappointing performance in the 2024 race to both racism and sexism. She highlighted that while Barack Obama was elected twice, it suggests a deeper racial issue in America.
Brazile noted, “There were various factors contributing to Kamala Harris’ defeat, but the 6-7 million Americans who backed Biden and Harris in 2020 felt the administration didn’t meet their expectations, leading Kamala to think she needed to prove herself. She approached it with the mindset of ‘I’m going to work for you.’
She went on to say, “People are discussing racism, yet we have successfully elected Barack Obama twice. It indicates that America may face racial challenges, but let me remind you of one thing.”
She concluded with, “We have a female president.”
