The ongoing battle against the Trump administration regarding illegal immigration persists, with Newark’s Mayor Ras Baraka pledging to challenge arrests in court.

The mayor was taken into custody on Tuesday during a protest alongside three council members outside the new ICE detention facility, named Delaney Hall, located in Newark. After about five hours, he was released and faced a trespassing charge.

Baraka is against the establishment and operation of Delaney Hall, which is designed to hold 1,000 detainees, claiming it shouldn’t have been permitted to open in the first place.
