Cowboys’ George Pickens talks about popular Steelers post

George Pickens, the new wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, recently criticized comments attributed to his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, which made waves on social media. Allegedly, screenshots of remarks from an Instagram post surfaced on Sunday, labeling the Steelers as “cheapest” and highlighting their tendency to trade other wide receivers before renegotiating contracts.

In response, Pickens took to his own Instagram Story to clarify. He mentioned, “Literally on a plane. There’s no service. I saw straight from the fans of Pitt. Stop trying to make a story. I’m happy with everything Steel City did for me.”

During his tenure with the Steelers, he had a rather tumultuous final season. He was involved in confrontations with fans, mixed it up with players from the Cleveland Browns, and earned multiple penalties during games. Despite these ups and downs, he achieved notable statistics—59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns over 14 games in 2024.

Steelers’ general manager Omar Khan gave insights into Pickens’ departure. He stated, “I wouldn’t use the word disappointment. We had three years with George. There were some exciting times. It was just time. A fresh start on both sides was the right thing to do.”
