Hamas Tortured American-Israeli Hostage Edan Alexander While Handcuffed in a Cage

Edan Alexander, who was held hostage by Hamas for nearly 600 days, endured severe torture during his captivity, including being handcuffed to a cage along with other hostages.

His release occurred on Monday, following President Trump’s recent trips to several Arab nations, which some speculate may have been a sign of goodwill from terrorist groups.

Trump expressed his approval of Alexander’s release, alongside special envoy Steve Witkov, who has been actively participating in the efforts to establish a broader peace agreement involving Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Qatar has historically provided funding and support for Hamas, which has faced exile at various points throughout the years.

Like many other male hostages, Alexander suffered from malnutrition right up until his release. Captured on October 7, 2023, it seems he was mistreated despite being a U.S. citizen.

According to reports from Israeli Can Broadcasting Station, Alexander suffered extreme torture in captivity and, in his initial statements, mentioned being handcuffed in a cage for an extended period. It was said he faced interrogation for several weeks and was kept in Hamas tunnels.

Trump has previously criticized Hamas for the maltreatment and torture of Israeli captives.

The Red Cross, which played a role in bringing Alexander back to Israel, had been unable to visit him while he was imprisoned.
