Streamer Hasan Piker alleges he was held by US immigration officials.

Streamer Hasan Piker recently shared an unsettling experience at Chicago’s airport after traveling from France. He claims that U.S. immigration officials attempted to detain him for an extended period.

In a nearly 40-minute livestream, Piker expressed concern that the officers were trying to extract information that could potentially lead to his indefinite detention. He noted that the agent seemed particularly interested in his views on Hamas.

Piker recounted repeatedly emphasizing his stance for peace, declaring, “I’m on the side of the civilians. I want to end the never-ending bloodshed. I’m a pacifist. I want to end the war.” Yet, in his stream, he made controversial comments, referring to Israelis in derogatory terms and discussing their responses to the questioning.

The 33-year-old streamer, with over 2.8 million followers on Twitch, is no stranger to controversy himself. His statements sometimes verge on provocative; for instance, he has been quoted as saying, “it doesn’t matter if the rape happened on October 7th,” referencing the tragic events associated with Hamas’ attacks on Israel.

Piker suggested that his detainment was part of a broader effort to instill fear and silence dissenting voices. He noted, “Nothing I’ve done online is illegal,” while expressing concern that laws might change in the future to restrict free speech.

Reflecting on the situation, he remarked, “I think they know who I am and wanted to scare me, not realizing I am quite headstrong.”

Piker, who reportedly drives a $200,000 Porsche and resides in a luxury home in West Hollywood, has previously made headlines for his contentious opinions, including a notable remark about America’s reaction to 9/11. Recently, he was profiled by The New York Times, which painted a glamorous picture of his life and hinted at his personal pursuits.

In recounting his experience, Piker revealed that he was worried his electronic devices might be taken, which thankfully didn’t happen during the encounter.

This situation draws parallels to the recent trend of influencers sharing exaggerated or dramatic experiences related to immigration customs. Over the weekend, another popular figure on TikTok claimed that their interactions with immigration officers had escalated and led to questioning about political beliefs.

In response to these allegations, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) firmly stated that the accusations were unfounded and clarified that such customs procedures are routine and lawful.

According to DHS, upon entering the country, Piker was appropriately referred for further screening, a standard practice that ensures compliance with regulations, and he was released as soon as the process concluded.
