Trump gives his support in New Jersey governor’s primary

Trump makes endorsement in New Jersey governor's primary

President Trump has endorsed Jack Ciattarelli in the GOP primary for governor in New Jersey, a notable move since Ciattarelli ran against current Governor Phil Murphy in 2021.

In a post on Monday, Trump stated, “Jack Ciattarelli is the first candidate in America aspiring to be the next governor of New Jersey, a place I deeply care about!”

Trump expressed confidence in Ciattarelli’s abilities, mentioning that he is now fully prepared and is supported by respected leaders in New Jersey. “As your next governor, Jack will collaborate with me and the Trump administration to further America’s agenda,” he noted.

Ciattarelli narrowly lost the previous election to Murphy and this year is facing off against other Republican contenders, including former talk radio host Bill Spadea and state Sen. John Blumenreich.

While Democrats, led by former Vice President Kamala Harris, took New Jersey in the last presidential election, there is a growing Republican presence in the state. Biden had won New Jersey by a margin of 15 points in 2020, whereas Harris won by just five points in 2024.

“Jack stands as a strong Republican candidate against the radical left Democrats, and he’s positioned to secure a significant victory in this critical election that everyone is watching,” Trump added in his post on Truth Social.

“Jack Ciattarelli is the candidate to support, and he has my unwavering endorsement. You won’t be disappointed,” he concluded.

In response to Trump’s endorsement, Ciattarelli expressed his gratitude on social media, saying, “I’m humbled and honored to have the strong support of President Trump today.”

“Now is the time for us to unite our party, clinch a decisive victory in November, and make New Jersey a safer, more affordable place to live,” he stated. “As governor, that’s what we will aim to achieve.”
