A recent interview with Bill Belichick by CBS, which saw his girlfriend Jordon Hudson actively participate in the dialogue, has stirred quite a bit of debate over the last few weeks. Notably, sports commentator Colin Cowherd has come to Belichick’s defense.
On his show, The Herd, Cowherd characterized the interview as a “whim” but emphasized that Hudson was merely fulfilling her role. He noted, “She’s his PR director. She’s not solely an NFL figure, but this is common in college settings. She’s many things for Bill: assistant, girlfriend, social media producer, PR handler.”
He elaborated, “In various aspects of life, a headset isn’t always necessary. Sure, she’s calling plays for Bill, but in the NFL, not so much; it’s different in college football, where players are more likely to choose their partners.”
Cowherd expressed that people, including CEOs and politicians, often have someone like Hudson in their corner. He remarked, “When I watched this, I thought, ‘This isn’t unusual; people like Jordon Hudson exist among top executives.’”
However, another commentator, Jason Whitlock from “Fearless,” disagreed. He remarked, “I’ve seen similar scenarios, but Monica Lewinsky wasn’t a PR director; she was an intern.”
Whitlock seemed unimpressed with Cowherd’s defense, calling it perhaps his most questionable perspective yet. Contributor Steve Kim added, “If she’s just lurking in the background and we rarely see her, the public likely won’t care much about this anymore.” He further noted the growing significance of the issue and remarked that it appears somewhat odd.
