President Trump is set to arrive in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday after a quick stop in Saudi Arabia, where he secured substantial economic and military investments between the two nations.
During the Gulf Cooperation Council meeting, Trump met with Saudi Arabia’s newly appointed Syrian president, Ahmad Alshara, and announced on Tuesday his decision to suspend sanctions on Syria to assist the war-torn nation.
“I felt very strongly that this would give them a chance,” Trump remarked. “It offers them a strong opportunity… it was my honor to do this.
However, Trump’s upcoming trip to Qatar has drawn criticism over the claim that he accepted a $400 million Boeing 747-8 luxury jet from the country.
Boeing has been contracted by the U.S. government to replace the presidential plane fleet but is currently facing extensive delays.
A further announcement anticipated includes a deal between Qatar and Boeing, as Qatar Airways operates a national airline that connects to numerous destinations across the globe.
Meanwhile, in Washington, House Republicans spent the night tackling the complex task of addressing the Medicaid and tax aspects of Trump’s significant domestic agenda.
