James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, made one young fan’s day by giving him a special gift after the Knicks defeated the Celtics 121-113 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Final Series on Monday.
Caught in the excitement outside Madison Square Garden, Dolan was seen smiling as fans gathered around a black SUV for a big watch party. He pointed to a boy in a Knicks hat, and a security guard helped by signaling to hand over a game ball.
This signed ball, according to Mark Jones, was autographed by Knicks All-Star Guard Jalen Brunson. In a post on X, Jones identified himself as the boy’s grandfather.
“Thank you for the tickets too!” Jones added in a video, hinting that Dolan also offered tickets to the game.
In another post, Jones shared a photo of himself wearing a Brunson T-shirt alongside his grandson, enjoying Game 4 from their seats.
When someone suggested that the boy’s parents were pressuring him to sell the ball, Jones quickly replied, “No. We’ll let him keep it. Signed by Brunson. We’ll keep it for a while.”
Brunson, recognized as the NBA’s clutch player of the year, had an impressive performance, scoring 39 points and recording 12 assists during the game.
The crowd erupted in cheers as Dolan, dressed in a navy blue suit jacket and a brown fedora hat, was driven away after the event. The Knicks are set to face the Celtics again in Game 5 on Wednesday, where Boston will be trying to push for a win without their star player, Jason Tatum.
