The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that there were no radiation leaks or emissions from Pakistan’s nuclear facilities during the recent military conflict with India.
This statement from the IAEA comes in response to claims circulating on social media that Indian troops attacked a Pakistani nuclear facility during Operation Sindoah.
An IAEA spokesperson informed PTI that, “Based on the information available to the IAEA, there were no radiation leaks or emissions from nuclear facilities in Pakistan.”
In a previous statement, former Air Operations Director Ak Bhartis dismissed suggestions that India had targeted Kirana Hills, where a Pakistani nuclear site is located. He remarked during a media briefing on May 12th, “We haven’t hit Kirana Hills. What’s there?”
Multiple reports indicated that an Indian strike had targeted an air force base in Salgoda, which is said to be connected to underground nuclear storage facilities in Kirana Hills.
Additionally, Foreign Ministry spokesman Randil Jaiswal refuted President Donald Trump’s assertion that he had prevented a nuclear conflict between the two nations. He emphasized that India’s military actions occurred within traditional territories and rejected any speculation regarding a nuclear war.
