Knicks’ Josh Hart temporarily exits game due to bleeding from his eye during NBA playoffs

Knicks’ Josh Hart Injured in Game 5 Loss

During the New York Knicks’ Game 5 loss on Wednesday night, guard Josh Hart started strong but suffered an injury late in the first quarter. He took an elbow to the face that resulted in a cut requiring stitches.

Despite the injury, Hart led the Knicks with 24 points in the 127-105 loss. When asked about his condition, he humorously remarked, “Eyes peachy,” hinting at his resilience.

The game was marked by intensity, particularly between Hart and Boston’s Jalen Brown. In the third quarter, the two clashed during a play, leading to a brief tussle. Hart reflected on the moment, noting that both players were simply very competitive and trying to ignite their teams.

Boston’s Brown had a standout performance with 26 points and 12 assists, helping the Celtics tie the series. He stepped up significantly after teammate Jason Tatum sustained an injury. After the game, Celtics head coach Joe Matzla expressed pride in the team’s response, stating, “You can’t choose the tests you have, you choose how you respond to them.”

On the other side, Derrick White led Boston with 34 points, including seven three-pointers. He acknowledged the challenge of playing without Tatum but emphasized the team’s competitive spirit, saying, “We didn’t want to end the season tonight.”

With Game 6 set to return to New York on Friday night, the series remains tightly contested.
