An act of kindness has brought unexpected relief to a grieving mother from Ohio.
Stephanie Clyburn was filled with emotions when a long-lost baby book, which included a print of her now-adult son’s hand, resurfaced months after his tragic death in a car accident.
This cherished memorabilia had been missing for nearly 20 years. With her son Bristin Coulson having passed away on November 22nd, the timing of its return helped Clyburn cope during her first Mother’s Day without him.
“I believe in God, and I think this is His way of saying, ‘Here, Mama. Happy Mother’s Day,'” she shared with WKRC.
The book had initially vanished when Clyburn’s mother held onto it, but it was lost through several moves.
When Cassidy Massey and her husband moved into a home in Greenfield, which belonged to Clyburn’s mother, they discovered some forgotten items in the attic.
“As we were going through things, I noticed lots of pictures,” Massey recounted. “I told my husband I’d go check it out at some point.”
After finding the book, she took it upon herself to locate its rightful owner, using Facebook to reach out to anyone who might know Clyburn.
“If someone finds something like ours, they’d want to be contacted,” Massey added.
Clyburn recognized Massey’s posts connected to Mother’s Day. “I couldn’t believe she had it. But when I saw it, I knew. It was exciting, but also brought me peace, feeling the presence of my son.”
While Clyburn mourns her loss, other memories from Coulson’s childhood still reside in the attic, adding to the bittersweet feelings about his return.
“Maybe they thought it was just junk,” Clyburn reflected. “I’m really thankful to her. If anyone finds something meaningful, they should always search for its owner. You never know what that person is going through.”
