Rafael Furcal, a three-time MLB All-Star and World Series champion, was arrested in Florida on multiple charges, as indicated by online records. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office noted that the 47-year-old faces accusations of throwing two types of projectiles—batteries and missiles—that are deemed deadly weapons, with both charges classified as second-degree felonies.
Details surrounding the arrest remain unclear, and inquiries have been directed to the Sunrise Police Department for more information. Interestingly, a lawyer’s information for Furcal has not been disclosed.
Furcal had a notable 14-year career in Major League Baseball. He debuted with the Atlanta Braves in 2000, where he won the National League Rookie of the Year Award, finishing the season with a .295 batting average and 134 hits. His first All-Star appearance occurred in 2003.
Two years later, he joined the Los Angeles Dodgers, staying with the team until being traded to the St. Louis Cardinals mid-season in 2011. Interestingly, he was part of the Cardinals’ World Series-winning team that year, marking the only championship of his career. Furcal enjoyed another All-Star selection in 2012.
He wrapped up his major league journey with the Miami Marlins in 2014, concluding his career with a batting average of .281, totaling 587 RBIs across 1,614 games.
