The Indianapolis Colts wrapped up their 2024 season on a somewhat perplexing note.
After star quarterback Anthony Richardson went down in week 16 with injuries to his back and leg, backup Joe Fraco stepped in as the starter, finishing the season with a 1-1 record and just falling short of the playoffs with an overall mark of 8-9.
At just 22, Richardson is now set to compete with former New York Giants QB Daniel Jones for the top role on the depth chart come training camp.
It might be a bit of a pressure cooker, but Richardson seems eager to soak in as much as possible. “I look forward to learning a lot from him,” he remarked. “He has experienced the league’s highs and lows, and I want to maximize this competition.”
Beyond this intriguing quarterback rivalry, this Colts squad appears poised for a strong showing in 2025. They snagged Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the 14th pick in the draft. This trio will complement the Indianapolis core, which features 2025 Pro Bowl players like Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson, and Zaire Franklin. When you add in perennial star Michael Pittman Jr., it’s a team that looks well-rounded.
With the 2025 schedule now out, Richardson, or Jones, is aware of what it takes to turn the tide towards a successful and, hopefully, less confusing season.
Key home matchups this year include games against the Denver Broncos on September 14, the Houston Texans on November 30, and the San Francisco 49ers on December 22.
Mid-season, they’ll also play against the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin’s Olympia Stadion on November 9.
