On Thursday morning, a man was reportedly heard letting out a “bloody scream” after a shark attack at a popular beach in South Australia.
Richard Vinor, who was swimming with his partner at Port Noarlunga Beach near Adelaide, experienced a terrifying incident when a shark clamped around his thighs. He managed to survive this harsh attack, as reported by a local news outlet.
Beachgoers quickly moved away from the water as emergency services rushed in to assist the injured swimmer.
Before the attack, Vinor’s partner had already noticed the danger and tried to pull him back from the threatening surf, which is known for its swimming, diving, and snorkeling activities.
“When something like that happens, you start worrying about the blood loss,” Warwick Armstrong, a witness, shared.
“We’re all lifesavers here, and our priority is ensuring everyone’s safety.”
Vinor, believed to be in his 40s, received initial treatment behind a large white sheet before being transported to a local hospital.
Currently, he remains in critical but stable condition, according to reports.
This distressing incident follows another shark attack on the same beach just two years ago, involving 32-year-old Bridget Oshansi, who was also bitten on the head and face.
Authorities, searching for potential threats, have linked the rise in shark sightings to an increase in algae in the water, leading some residents to reconsider swimming in these coastal areas.
“I really don’t want to go in,” Sonya Hollock expressed. “I like the thought of swimming, but I’ll be staying out for now.”
