Baptism Event in California Breaks Records
Three years ago, Pastor Mark France felt a calling from God to initiate a large-scale baptism event in California, a state where many had drifted spiritually. He hoped it would inspire significant movements of faith. This past year, the “Baptismus” event took place, and over 4,000 individuals were baptized at Pirates Cove in Corona del Mar.
On the weekend, the event at Huntington Beach reached astounding numbers: about 6,000 were baptized on Saturday, followed by another 6,000 the following day. Ultimately, this year’s event culminated in a remarkable 7,752 baptisms in a single day, making it possibly the largest one-day baptism event recorded in American history.
Numerous churches collaborated to make this gathering possible. “It’s tough to find the right words,” France commented, expressing a sense of living out stories from the Acts of the Apostles.
For many participants, this was more than just tradition; it felt like a revival of faith throughout the community.
