Nuggets Facing Uncertainty with Gordon’s Status for Game 7
The Nuggets might be without a key player as they head into Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Aaron Gordon’s availability for Sunday’s match is in doubt after he seemed to aggravate his hamstring late in the fourth quarter during Denver’s 119-107 win on Thursday.
With under two minutes remaining, Gordon was stripped of the ball by Chet Holmgren and then, while attempting to intercept a pass from Alex Caruso, appeared to reach for his foot.
He remained in the game through a few more plays but ultimately left the court with just over a minute left in the fourth quarter, only to return briefly for one offensive possession.
After the game, interim head coach David Adelman expressed uncertainty about Gordon’s condition as they prepare for this crucial matchup. “At this point, I’m not really sure. It’s definitely concerning,” Adelman noted. “Aaron plays a vital role in our success. He’s a big part of why we win.”
Interestingly, a report mentioned that Gordon was “fine” and had no visible injuries in the locker room after the game.
Adelman suggested that the extended break between games 6 and 7 could provide the Nuggets, including Gordon, a chance to recuperate.
“I’m glad everyone has these two days for treatment,” he added. “I’m not getting a definite answer yet. But honestly, the break is helpful—it’s going to be a marathon to get to Game 7. We need this time to get the guys ready for a Sunday matinee,” he concluded, emphasizing his concerns about Gordon’s workload this season.
Gordon has been impactful in this series, averaging 14.5 points per game while shooting 44.1% from the field, and contributing 9.2 rebounds along with a solid 45.2% from three-point range.
