Yankees Fans Unleash Booing on Juan Soto

The first wave of “F-K Juan Soto” chants erupted at 6:51 p.m., and they certainly wouldn’t be the last.

Yankees fans spared no effort in booing the superstar as he walked up to the plate, even before his name was announced, during his debut in the Bronx.

Soto seemed to take it in stride, smiling at the hostile reception from the crowd on Friday night.

If there were any cheers for him, they were drowned out completely. Even after reaching base, the jeers continued.

This was Soto’s return to a place he previously called home, but it was clear he wouldn’t be warmly welcomed back.

It’s interesting how things change. Usually, when the Yankees pursue top talent, they tend to get what they want. But despite a staggering offer of $760 million in 2016, Soto opted to join the Mets, signing a massive 15-year, $765 million deal with owner Steve Cohen.

Even after a magical but ultimately disappointing season in 2024, where Soto excelled and led the Yankees to the World Series, the past didn’t seem to matter anymore. The memories of his impressive performances simply faded when he chose another team.
